Burton in Jerry Rees' 'Basement'

Animator and director Jerry Rees has posted some intriguing archival material onto his official website. In his "Basement" section, Rees has posted some of his collaborations with Tim Burton from the late 1970s and early 1980s in California.

Here are three photos Rees shot with Burton as his subject:

Rees also posted two live-action shorts that he co-directed with Burton.

Doctor of Doom (1979), a parody of Mexican horror films, overdubbed by Brad Bird (director of The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille).

Luau (1982), featuring animation artists Joe Ranft, John Musker, Sue Kroyer, and many others.

Wow, after all these years... it's finally there to be seen.
"Luau"'s zaniness is rather Forbidden Zonesque, is it not? --It's bad, but frankly quite funny and I will treasure the extensive backslapping.

thank you, blogistadors. With whatever James Bond kind of device you always find the things you find, remains romantically mysterious to me, but it adds some ingle to the cold rays of the computer screen.

Wow, that was so epic!! I just love the ending to Luau, "Vladamir Moon face Jr"!! xD Plus, nothing beats some good old fashioned racism too. lol. But, Doctor of Doom was just awesomely funny. Tim did a great job playing his roll, i had to laugh though he lifted his head up around the ending (9:55). xD Some of my favorite quotes from Doctor of Doom..."For tomorow i will destroy your lives for i am am the ultimamite power MUHAHAHA HAHAHA(the whole rant around 1:44-2:24)...You are getting sleepy, your eyes are getting heavy, then you can tell all your friends how heavy your eyes once were...I will destroy you, i will destroy you with this book 'muahahahhahahahahahahahaha!' *throws book*" xD

Both are so epic. I need to burn them on dvd so i always have it. Just in case they disappear again! ^_^
